In 2009, BJD gain 37.23% of the vote share which increased to 44.77% in 2014 and reduced marginally to 43.32% in 2019. BJP increased its vote share from 16.46% in 2009 to 21.88% in 2014 which further increased to 38.88% in 2019.

The 2019 general elections saw a decrease in BJD’s vote share in 16 parliamentary constituencies whereas BJP, on the other hand, managed to increase its vote share in all 21 constituencies.

BJD remained strong in coastal areas in terms of vote share while BJP gained significantly in western parts and eastern parts of Odisha. BJP will be aiming to consolidate its support base in all constituencies and further cement its position in the state in next general elections.
