There are in total 5 constituencies in Punjab where INC had been 1st runner-up in the last 3 elections.
In terms of margin, there were 4 constituencies where the losing margin increased in 2022. Rupnagar witnessed a marginal decrease in losing margin.
The vote share of INC decreased in all of these constituencies though not significantly.
INC will need to reexamine its plan of action and explore other alternatives to convert close losses into winning seats to be in the reckoning for the next elections.
