The state is known for its clear anti-incumbency voting pattern; it has not seen any incumbent government returning to power since 1990.

In terms of the vote share, there is not a significant difference between a winner and a loser. The only exception can be seen in the 1998 elections where the BJP went on to win despite having a lesser vote share than INC.

With the assembly elections just around the corner and AAP entering into the foray, the state has become the political hotspot of immense intrigue for political observers and voters alike.
