In the 2019 Odisha elections, there were 47 constituencies where BJD had low winning/losing margin. Out of these 47 constituencies, it won 26 seats and lost 21 seats. In both winning and losing constituencies, the margin was less than 5%. In the losing 21 constituencies, it was defeated by BJP in 13 seats and lost 7 seats to INC. The remaining 1 seat went to an independent candidate. In the constituencies where BJD won, it was BJP who came 1st runner up in most of them. The BJP will be eyeing these constituencies as its best chance to swing more seats in its favor and consolidate its overall number of seats in the next election.
