Parliamentary Constituency Watch: Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar is a Lok Sabha / Parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh and is located in Central India. It is a general constituency.   

In 2009, the constituency had 13,67,492 electors in total and 7,45,776 of them chose to exercise their right to vote. In total, there were 7,49,510 male electors and 6,17,982 female electors. Out of that, 58% of male electors cast their ballot i.e 4,33,141 voters in real numbers and for female electors, the turnout stood at 51%, in real numbers- 3,12,635 voters.

In 2014, out of a total of 15,88,483 electors, 11,07,434 voters cast their vote. In this election, the total number of male electors was 8,75,186 and the male voter turnout stood at 71%, in real numbers- 6,20,606. There were 7,13,297 female electors, out of which 68% of them chose to exercise their constitutional right to vote, in real numbers- 4,86,828 voters.  

The total count of electors in 2019 was 16,98,003, out of which 11,54,192 chose to cast their ballot in the parliamentary elections. Out of 9,21,279 male electors, only 68% voted which is 6,24,979 male voters in real numbers. On the other hand, the voter turnout for females stood at 68% which translates to 5,29,210 voters out of a total of 7,76,613 female electors in real number.  

In 2017, transgender people were included as a separate category of the third gender in electoral rolls. There were 111 electors belonging to the third gender category in the parliamentary constituency during the 2019 elections. Only 3 of them exercised their newly granted constitutional right to vote and thus their turnout stood at 3%.
