During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 233827 and the constituency witnessed a voter turnout that stood at 72.27%, in real numbers- 168988 voters. 2017 witnessed a nominal increase in voter turnout; out of the 261136 electors, 72.84% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it was a reasonable jump-190210 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner, an independent candidate Jigneshkumar Natvarlal Mevani gained a vote share of 50.21% and defeated BJP’s Chakravarti Vijaykumar Harkhabhai whose vote share stood at 39.85%. The remaining candidate in the fray was another independent candidate Makwana Narendrakumar Pujabhai with 1.95% vote share. 2.24% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP earned 68536 votes but lost to INC whereas in 2017 it did increase its vote count to 75801 votes but lost the seat to an independent candidate this time. Overall, its INC which dominated the district of Banaskantha in 2017 by winning 5 seats.  BJP scored 3 seats and 1 seat went to an independent candidate.
