Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 221291 and the constituency witnessed a voter turnout of 71.20%, in real numbers- 157569 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 251440 electors, 70.81% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-178044 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Patel Maheshkumar Amrutlal gained a vote share of 51.40% and defeated BJP’s Prajapati Laljibhai Kanjibhai whose vote share stood at 41.52%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Vadnathani Jayantibhai Umedbhai with 0.59% vote share. 2.06% of votes were under NOTA.
Voting History -2012 & 2017


In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 75097 votes that increased to 91512 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 69813 votes in 2012 and 73919 votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Banaskantha in 2017 by winning 5 seats. BJP managed to score 3 seats while 1 seat was won by an independent candidate.
