Location
Champua assembly constituency is located in Kendujhar district and consists of:
Joda, Barbil, Joda block and 17 GPs (Kodagadia, Jamudalak, Rajia, Kalikaprasad, Rimuli, Badanai, Sarei, Champua, Kutariposi, Sunaposi, Karanjia, Rangamatia, Uchabali, Bhanda, Kashipal, Padua and Chandrasekharpur) of Champua block.

Voter Turnout

During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 198149 and the constituency recorded 78.87% of polling, in real numbers- 156287 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 226791 electors, 74.12% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-168101 voters.
Representation and Results

2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Minakshi Mahanta gained a vote share of 53.30% and defeated BJP’s Murali Manohar Sharma whose vote share stood at 37.60%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Jadumani Barik with 2.50% of vote share and an independent candidate with 1.20% vote share.

In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 10233 votes and 89525 votes in 2019. On the other hand, BJP garnered 7070 votes in 2014 and 63117 votes in 2019 while INC received 4217 votes in the 2019 elections. BJD dominated the district of Kendujhar in 2019 by winning 5 seats. The remaining 1 seat went to BJP.
