Voter Turnout
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 182367 and the constituency recorded 84.20% of polling, in real numbers- 153544 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 210665 electors, 78.74% of voters chose to cast their vote. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-165887 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Sudam Marndi gained a vote share of 43.40% and defeated BJP’s Sugda Murmu whose vote share stood at 36.30%. The remaining candidates in the fray were JMM’s Fagu Hansdah with 9.60% of vote share and an independent candidate Purusotam Naik with 2.70% vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 62406 votes and 72050 votes in 2019. On the other hand, BJP garnered 30877 votes in 2014 and 60206 votes in 2019 while JMM got 23411 votes in 2014 and 15908 votes in 2019. BJP dominated the district of Mayurbhanj in 2019 by winning 6 seats. BJD captured the remaining 3 seats.
