Odisha – Vote Share Change for BJD and BJP in Rural Constituencies from 2009 to 2019

In the 2009 elections, BJD got 47.88% of vote share in rural constituencies, in 2014 the vote share dipped to 47.54% and in 2019 elections saw it marginally increased to 48.48% of vote share. BJP on the other hand, gained 13.9% of vote share in 2009, 17.15% in 2014 and significantly increased it to 32.97% in 2019.

BJP almost doubled its vote share in 2019 and will need to put a well rounded strategy in place to translate this increased support base into more seats in rural constituencies in the next state elections.
