The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is contesting the 2022 Punjab Election in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). SAD will contest from 97 seats out of 117, while the rest will be contested by BSP. Here is what we know so far-
Two Seat Candidate
Three-time SAD MLA Bikram Singh Majithia is contesting from two constituencies- Majitha and Amritsar East.
3rd Runner Ups
2 BSP candidates- Advocate Balwinder Kumar and Nachhatar Pal were also given the tickets.
Seat Shifts
7 male candidates shifted from the constituencies they were contesting from in the last assembly election.
Sitting MLAs
11 sitting MLAs from Shiromani Akali Dal were given the tickets for the upcoming election.
Lota Candidates
11 male and a female candidate have shifted their allegiance to SAD+BSP in the upcoming elections. They include 4 candidates from INC, 2 candidates from BJP, 2 candidates from independent party, and 4 candidates from other parties.
2nd Runner Ups
13 male candidates who lost by a margin range of 1.14% to 32.8% were also given the tickets for the upcoming election.
1st Runner Ups
15 male candidates and a female candidate who lost by a margin range of 2.85% to 25.24% were also given tickets.
New Candidates
SAD and BSP have introduced 54 new candidates to the candidate list. Out of which 50 are male candidates and 4 are female candidates.
