In the 2009 elections, INC won 10 seats, SAD managed to win 2 seats and the remaining 1 seat went to BJP. In 2014, AAP and SAD managed to win 4 seats each whereas INC and BJP settled for 3 and 2 seats respectively. The 2019 elections saw INC emerge as the dominant party by securing 8 seats. Both BJP and SAD won 2 seats each whereas 1 seat went to AAP.
Punjab has been among the few states across India in recent times that are able to resist the political juggernaut that is the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. INC performed well, winning an impressive 8 seats. SAD will contest the next general elections without being in alliance with BJP and hope to consolidate its number of seats.
