Odisha – Changing Vote Share of BJD and BJP in Last 3 Elections

The overall vote share of BJD in 2009 was 38.86%, in 2014 it was 43.40% and 44.71% in 2019. In the case of the BJP, it garnered 15.05% of the vote share in 2009 which increased to 18.0% in 2014. In 2019, BJP saw a significant increase in its vote share with 32.49% of vote share.

During the last three elections, there wasn’t seen much increase in BJD’s vote share. At the constituency level, it saw a dip in 70 constituencies and increased its votes share in 77 constituencies. On the other hand, BJP managed to increase its vote share at both the state level and constituency level.

In terms of vote share, BJP found itself on firm footing in the 2019 elections and will be gearing up to further tighten its grip on the state.
