In 2012, INC contested all 182 seats, winning 61 seats. The next elections in 2017 witnessed a swing in 19 seats from INC to other parties. Out of the total swing seats, BJP unseated INC in 16 seats whereas 3 seats went to the other parties.
INC will be aiming to come up with a well-rounded strategy to bring these constituencies back into its fold to further consolidate its claim to the state in the upcoming elections.
