Choudwar Cuttack assembly constituency is located in Cuttack district and consists of:
Choudwar, 19 wards of Cuttack, Charibatia (C.T), Choudwar (O.G), and 4 Gram panchayats (Nakhara, Kayalpada, Indranipatna and Agrahat) Tangi-Choudwar block.
Designated as a General Constituency.
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 209854 and the turnout stood at 62.03%, in real numbers- 130176 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 230204 electors, 57.40% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-132133 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Souvic Biswal gained a vote share of 49.00% and defeated BJP’s Nayan Kishore Mohanty whose vote share stood at 32.60%. The remaining candidates in the fray were independent candidate Deepak Kumar Barik with 11.10% of vote share and INC’s Jagdish Chandra Mohanty with 5.10% vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 70880 votes and 64686 votes in 2019. On the other hand, BJP garnered 24651 votes in 2014 and 43102 votes in 2019 while INC received 29495 votes in 2014 and 6761 votes in 2019. BJD dominated the district of Cuttack in 2019 by winning 8 seats. The remaining 1 seat went to INC.
