Meerut is a Lok Sabha / Parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh and is located in Central India. It is a general constituency.
In 2009, the constituency had 15,06,495 electors in total and 7,27,559 of them chose to exercise their right to vote. In total, there were 8,21,005 male electors and 6,85,490 female electors. Out of that, 52% of male electors cast their ballot i.e 4,28,625 voters in real numbers and for female electors, the turnout stood at 44%, in real numbers- 2,98,934 voters.
In 2014, out of a total of 17,64,388 electors, 11,13,384 voters cast their vote. In this election, the total number of male electors was 9,71,956 and the male voter turnout stood at 65%, in real numbers- 6,32,847. There were 7,92,432 female electors, out of which 61% of them chose to exercise their constitutional right to vote, in real numbers- 4,80,537 voters.
The total count of electors in 2019 was 18,92,931, out of which 12,12,076 chose to cast their ballot in the parliamentary elections. Out of 10,33,535 male electors, only 65% voted which is 6,73,088 male voters in real numbers. On the other hand, the voter turnout for females stood at 62% which translates to 5,38,984 voters out of a total of 8,59,263 female electors in real number.
In 2017, transgender people were included as a separate category of the third gender in electoral rolls. There were 133 electors belonging to the third gender category in the parliamentary constituency during the 2019 elections. Only 4 of them exercised their newly granted constitutional right to vote.
