Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 196643 and the turnout stood at 67.86%, in real numbers- 133445 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 222041 electors, 67.99% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it was a reasonable jump-150971 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Purnesh Modi gained a vote share of 73.93% and defeated INC’s Patel Iqbal Daud whose vote share stood at 22.34%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Rochani Sonal Chetanbhai with 0.31 % vote share. 1.32% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 99099 votes that increased to 111615 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 29368 votes in 2012 and 33733 votes in 2017. Overall BJP dominated the district of Surat in 2017 by winning 15 seats. The remaining 1 seat was won by INC.
