Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 197119 and the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 69.81%, in real numbers- 137601 voters. 2017 witnessed a negligible decrease in turnout; out of the 232669 electors, 69.79% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-162377 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Yogesh Patel gained a vote share of 64.69% and defeated INC’s Chirag Hanskumar Zaveri (Chirag Zaveri ) whose vote share stood at 29.98%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Laxmanbhai Punjabhai Parekh with 0.51% vote share. 1.38% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 92642 votes that increased to 105036 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC 40857 votes in 2012 and 48674 votes in 2017. BJP emerged as the dominating party in the district of Vadodara in 2017 by securing 8 seats. INC had to be content with the remaining 2 seats.
