Voter Turnout
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 236029 and the turnout stood at 68.59%, in real numbers- 161900 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 260748 electors, 68.44% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-178458 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, independent candidate Rathod Ratansinh Magansinh gained a vote share of 30.87% and defeated BJP’s Patel Manojkumar Rayajibhai whose vote share stood at 29.08%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Parmar Paranjayadityasinhji Krishnakumarsinhji with 26.39% and independent candidate Solanki Bhupendrasinh Prabhatsinh with 4.85% of vote share respectively.
Voting History -2012 & 2017
In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 72814 votes that significantly decreased to 47093 votes in 2017 and a consequent defeat for the party. On the other hand, BJP garnered 69113 votes in 2012 and 51898 votes to win in 2017. BJP, INC and IND managed to win 1 seat each in the district of Mahi Sagar in 2017.
