Voter Turnout
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 144162 and the turnout stood at 64.64%, in real numbers- 93192 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 161275 electors, 56.07% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it translates to 90421 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Ghoghari Pravinbhai Manjibhai gained a vote share of 64.89% and defeated INC’s Bhumbhaliya Bhaveshbhai Govindbhai whose vote share stood at 25.52%. The remaining candidates in the fray were two independent candidates- Bhimjibhai V.Patel with 4.94% and Zalavadiya Jaysukhbhai Devchandbhai with 1.01% of vote share respectively.share.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 65696 votes that decreased to 58673 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 16257 votes in 2012 and 23075 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Surat in 2017 by winning 15 seats. INC managed to win the remaining 1 seat.
