Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 231237 and the constituency recorded a 73.51% polling, in real numbers- 169988 voters. 2017 witnessed a decrease in polling; out of the 253435 electors, 71.16% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-180337 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Radadiya Jayeshbhai Vitthalbhai gained a vote share of 54.87% and defeated INC’s Ambaliya Ravibhai Jamanadas whose vote share stood at 40.68%. The remaining candidate in the fray was BSP’s Chavda Dineshkumar Menandbhai with 0.59% Vote share. 1.74% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 85827 votes that decreased to 73367 votes in 2017 and had to face a consequent defeat. On the other hand, BJP garnered 67794 votes in 2012 and 98948 votes to win 2017 elections, while BSP got 2556 and 1065 votes in 2012 and 2017 respectively. BJP dominated the district of Rajkot in 2017 by winning 6 seats. INC had to settle with 2 seats.
