Voter Turnout
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 202494 and the constituency recorded 73.42% of polling, in real numbers- 148671 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 224907electors, 70.46% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-158459 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Prasanta Kumar Jagadev gained a vote share of 50.60% and defeated BJP’s Prithiviraj Harichandan whose vote share stood at 43.70%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Pradip Kumar Swain with 3.10% of vote share and an independent candidate Lalatendu Satapathy with 0.90% vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJP won the constituency and earned 69433 votes and 69277 votes in 2019. On the other hand, BJD garnered 68892 votes in 2014 and 80133 votes in 2019 while INC received 5182 votes in 2014 and 4939 votes in 2019. Overall, BJD dominated the district of Khordha in 2019 by winning 7 seats. The remaining 1 seat was won by INC.
