During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 71,367 and the turnout stood at 71.15%, in real numbers- 50,778 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 77,244 electors, 76.44% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-59,046 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Subhash Thakur gained a vote share of 53.43% and defeated INC’s Bumber Thakur whose vote share stood at 41.81%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was an independent Basant Ram Sandhu with 2.20% vote share. 0.55% Of votes were under NOTA.
