Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors were 2,05,170 and the turnout stood at 67.78%, in real numbers- 1,39,070 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 2,41,893 electors, 63.14% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-1,52,724 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Jitendrabhai gained a vote share of 54.81% and defeated INC’s Gohil Dilipsinh whose vote share stood at 37.01%. The remaining candidate in the fray was VPP’s candidate Dharmashibhai with 2.29 % vote share. 2.09% votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 92,584 votes which decreased to 83,701 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 38,691 votes in 2012 and 56,516 votes in the 2017 elections. BJP gained 6 seats and INC scored the remaining single seat in the district of Bhavnagar.
