Voter Turnout
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 77,927 and the turnout stood at 73.39%, in real numbers- 57,190 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 84,987 electors, 76.21% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-64,765 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Virbhadra Singh gained a vote share of 53.27% and defeated BJP’s Rattan Singh Pal whose vote share stood at 43.92%. The remaining candidates in the fray were JanSP’s Vijay Singh Rajput with 0.69% vote share. 0.82% of votes were under NOTA.
Voting History –2012 & 2017
In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 17211 votes which increased to 28448 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 15136 votes in 2012 and 34499 votes in 2017 to register a win. JanSP received 7515 votes in 2012 whereas NCP got 445 votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Solan in 2017 by winning 3 seats while BJP came victorious in 2 seats.
