Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 262484 and the turnout stood at 63.61%, in real numbers- 166970 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 316710 electors, 69.29% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it was a reasonable jump-219449 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Vijay Rupani gained a vote share of 59.96% and defeated INC’s Indrani Rajguru whose vote share stood at 35.47%. The remaining candidate in the fray was BSP’s Parmar Vijaybhai Somabhai with 0.55% vote share. 1.51% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 90405 votes that increased to 131586 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 65427 votes in 2012 and 77831 votes in 2017. BSP got 1198 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Rajkot in 2017 by winning 6 seats. INC had to be content with 2 seats.
