Assembly Constituency Watch: Abdasa

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors were 1,95,191 and the turnout stood at 73%, in real numbers- 1,43,507 voters. Voter engagement improved by 2017 which witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 2,23,787 electors, 67.58% of voters exercised their constitutional rights which convert to 1,51,240 voters.    

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Pradhyumansinh Jadeja gained a vote share of 48.47% and defeated BJP’s Chhabilbhai Patel whose vote share stood at 42.03%. The remaining candidate in the fray was BMUP’s Rajesh Maheshwari with 2.73% vote share. 2.15% of votes were under NOTA.  

In 2012, BJP earned 53,091 votes which increased to 63,566 votes in 2017. INC won the constituency with 60,704 votes in 2012 and 73312 votes in 2017. BMUP had no presence in 2012, and in 2017 it earned 4122 votes.    

In the district of Kutch, BJP emerged dominant by winning 4 seats with 66.7% votes and INC came second with 33.3% votes and 2 seats.
