AAP’s avg. winning margin stood at 19.64% whereas for SAD and INC it was 9.94% and 4.97% respectively. BJP recorded a 4.36% avg. winning margin and BSP’s avg. winning margin was 4.34%. AAP recorded the biggest margin, winning the Sunam constituency by a margin of 48.67%. AAP won the Jalandhar Central constituency by the sleekest margin of 0.23%.
AAP stormed to power in Punjab by bagging 92 of the 117 seats. The traditional parties like SAD and INC need to rethink their overall approach for the next election to stand any chance to get back to their old prominence in the state.
