In 2012, BJP contested all 182 seats, winning 116 seats. The next elections in 2017 witnessed a swing in 34 seats from BJP to other parties. Out of the total swing seats, INC unseated BJP in 33 seats whereas 1 seat was won by BTP. In 4 seats the losing margin was above 15% for BJP.
BJP will be looking to revisit its strategy for these constituencies to sway as many as them back in its favor and consolidate its number of seats in the next assembly elections in the state.
