Goa Elections – A Report

Along with UP Phase-2, a major electoral battle came to an end on Valentine’s Day in Goa. The state saw a 78.94% voter turnout till 6 pm for the 40 seats across its two districts, North Goa and South Goa. North Goa registered a maximum turnout of 79%, compared to South Goa’s 78% to decide the future of 301 candidates, including 26 female candidates.

Overall, 11,64,224 Goans showed up to vote, out of which 5,97,974 were female, 5,66,241 were male and nine were from the third-gender community.
Back in 2017, Congress led the outcome with 17 seats, but BJP was able to claim the Chief Minister’s position based on its 13 seats plus a recklessly cobbled alliance.
