Parliamentary Constituency Watch: Badaun

Badaun is a Lok Sabha / Parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh and is located in Central India. It is designated as a general constituency.     

In 2009, out of a total of 14,04,511 electors, 7,37,178 voters cast their ballots. Of the 7,77,861 male electors, 4,40,259 participated in the election, constituting a turnout rate of 57%. There were 6,27,650 female electors of that 2,96,919 chose to vote with a turnout rate of 47%. 

 Gender Wise Voter Turnout 

In 2014, there are 17,69,145 people who are eligible to vote and 10,27,594 of them chose to exercise their right to vote. Out of these, 9,78,040 were male electors and 7,91,105 were female electors. 61% of male electors (5,95,491) and 55% of female electors (4,32,103) cast their ballots. 

The total count of electors in 2019 was 18,91,576 out of which 10,79,101 chose to cast their ballot in the parliamentary elections. Out of 10,27,197 male electors, only 58% voted which is 5,92,408 male voters in real numbers. On the other hand, the voter turnout for females stood at 56% which translates to 3,86,684 voters out of a total of 8,64,283 female electors in real number.    

In 2017, transgender people were included as a separate category of the third gender in electoral rolls. There were 96 electors belonging to the third gender category in the parliamentary constituency during the 2019 elections. And 9 of them exercised their newly granted constitutional right to vote and thus their turnout stood at 9%.
