Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 197921 and the turnout stood at 70.99%, in real numbers- 140502 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 220849 electors, 69.51% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-153508 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Desai Kanubhai Mohanlal gained a vote share of 64.09% and defeated INC’s Bharatbhai Mohanbhai Patel whose vote share stood at 30.16%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Advocate Purva Pradip Gajare with 0.67% vote share. 1.68% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 84563 votes that increased to 98379 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 47252 votes in 2012 and 46293 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Valsad in 2017 by winning 4 seats. INC scored the remaining 1 seat.
