During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 230048 and the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 83.81%, in real numbers- 192810 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 254673electors, 81.24% of voters chose to cast their vote. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-206890 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Sunilbhai Ratanjibhai Gamit gained a vote share of 51.35% and defeated BJP’s Kantilalbhai Reshmabhai Gamit whose vote share stood at 40.17%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Dhavalbhai Vijaybhai Chaudhari with 2.00% vote share. 1.98% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 90191 votes that decreased to 83105 votes and had to face a consequent defeat in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 80267 votes in 2012 and 106234 votes to emerge as triumphant in 2017. INC stamped its dominance in the district of Tapi in 2017 by winning both 2 seats.
