Mehmedabad assembly constituency is located in Kheda district and consists of:
Kheda Taluka (Part) Villages – Lali, Mahij, Bidaj, Kanera, Sarsa, Vasna Margiya, Sankhej, Vaikunthpura, Pinglaj, Kathwada, Navagam, Malarpura, Samadra, Dedarda, Parsantaj, Vasna-Khurd, Kajipura, Gobhalaj, Pansoli, Chalindra, Dharoda, Chitrasar, Kaloli
Designated as a General Constituency.
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 202296 and the turnout stood at 75.17%, in real numbers- 152076 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 226493 electors, 76.14% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it was a reasonable jump-172444 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Chauhan Arjunsinh Udesinh gained a vote share of 51.56% and defeated INC’s Gautambhai Ravjibhai Chauhan whose vote share stood at 39.43%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Chuahan Juvansinh Gandabhai with 5.69% vote share. 1.46% of votes were under NOTA.
Voting History -2012 & 2017
In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 68767 votes that decreased to 67995 votes in 2017 and resulted in the party suffering the defeat. On the other hand, BJP garnered 64586 votes in 2012 and 88913 votes to win in 2017. Both BJP and INC secured 3 seats each in the district of Kheda in 2017 elections.
