During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 181028 and the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 67.25%, in real numbers- 121740 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 208956 electors, 64.81% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-135434 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Makwana Raghavbhai Chondabhai gained a vote share of 32.79% and defeated independent candidate Dr. Kanubhai V. Kalsaria whose vote share stood at 29.09%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Baraiya Vijaybhai Ravjibhai with 22.58% and independent candidate Bipinkumar Bhupatray Sanghavi with 9.90% of vote share respectively.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 57498 votes that decreased to 44410 votes in 2017. On the other hand, garnered 27855 votes in 2012 and 30576 votes in 2017. BJP emerged as the leading party in the district of Bhavnagar in 2017 by winning 6 seats. INC had to settle with just 1 seat.
