Hinjili assembly constituency is located in Ganjam district and consists of:
Hinjilicut, Hinjilicut block and Sheragada block.
Designated as a General Constituency.
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 201276 and the turnout stood at 60.64%, in real numbers- 122044 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 220523 electors, 63.63% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it was a reasonable jump-140329 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Naveen Patnaik gained a vote share of 67.00% and defeated BJP’s Pitambar Acharya whose vote share stood at 24.20%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Sambhu Panigrahi with 5.20% of vote share and BSP’s Bhaskar Choudhury with 0.70% vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 89267 votes and 94065 votes in 2019. On the other hand, INC garnered 12681 votes in 2014 and 7265 votes in 2019 while BJP received 12283 votes in 2014 and 33905 votes in 2019. BSP got 994 votes in the 2019 elections. BJD dominated the district of Ganjam in 2019 by winning 12 seats while INC managed to win the remaining 1 seat.
