During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 221756 and the turnout stood at 70.26%, in real numbers- 155810 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 250833 electors, 72.28% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it translates into 181306 voters.

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Pandya Shashikant Mahobatram gained a vote share of 47.11% and defeated INC’s Govabhai Hamirabhai Rabari whose vote share stood at 39.09%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Vaghela Bahadursinh Dadubha with 8.78% Vote share. 1.95% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 66294 votes and 85411 votes in 2017. INC garnered 48588 votes in 2012 and 70880votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Banaskantha in 2017 by winning 5 seats.  BJP scored 3 seats.
