Attabira assembly constituency is located in Baragarh district and consists of:
Attabira, Attabira block and Bheden block. This constituency was created in 2009 in place of Melchhamunda constituency.
Designated as a General Constituency.
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 202343 and the constituency recorded a voter turnout of 76.57%, in real numbers- 154943 voters. 2019 witnessed a slight increase in turnout; out of the 221466 electors, 76.71% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it was a reasonable jump-169888 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria gained a vote share of 49.50% and defeated BJP’s Milan Seth whose vote share stood at 36.30%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Nihar Ranjan Mahanand with 12.70% vote share and BSP’s Rabindra Megha with 1.00% of vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 69602 votes that increased to 84010 votes in 2019. On the other hand, INC garnered 44128 votes in 2014 and 21511 votes in 2019 while BJP received 33735 votes in 2014 and 61614 votes in 2019. BSP got 1641 votes in the 2019 elections. BJD clean swept the district of Baragarh in 2019 by winning all 5 seats.
