Rampur assembly constituency is located in the Shimla district and is a part of the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency.
Designated as a Scheduled Castes Constituency.
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 66,819 and the turnout stood at 74.01%, in real numbers- 49,450 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 71,014 electors, 76.05% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-54,005 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Nand Lal gained a vote share of 47.64% and defeated BJP’s Prem Singh Daraik whose vote share stood at 40.17%. The other prominent candidates in the fray were CPI(M)’s Vivek Kashyap with 2.45% and the independent candidate Singhi Ram with 7.04% of vote share.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 27,925 votes and 25,730 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 18,454 votes in 2012 and 21,693 votes in 2017. CPI(M) received 1,325 votes in the 2017 elections. INC dominated the district of Shimla in 2017 by winning 4 seats. BJP came victorious in 3 seats whereas 1 seat went to CPI(M).
