Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 192714 and the constituency recorded 80.72% polling, in real numbers- 155565 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 212999 electors, 76.90% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-163806 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Patel Sureshkumar Chaturdas gained a vote share of 47.56% and defeated BJP’s Amitbhai Harisingbhai Chaudhary whose vote share stood at 47.24%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Prajapati Ashishkumar Atmaram with 0.84% vote share. 1.83% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 78068 votes that saw a slight decrease to 77902 votes in 2017 but were sufficient to retain the seat. On the other hand, BJP garnered 70040 votes in 2012 and 77378 votes in 2017. INC managed to win 3 seats while BJP claimed 2 seats in the district of Gandhinagar in 2017 election.
