Limdi assembly constituency is located in Surendranagar district and consists of:
Chuda Taluka – entirely
Sayla Taluka – Entire taluka except village – Ori
Limbdi Taluka (Part) Villages – Aanandpar, Ankewaliya, Balol, Bhalgamda, Bhoika, Bhojpara, Bodiya, Borana, Borna, Choki, Choraniya, Devpara, Dholi, Dolatpar, Gedi, Ghaghretiya, Ghaghosar, Ghanshyampar, Hadala, Jakhan, Jansali, Jasapar, Kamalpur, Kanpara, Katariya, Khambhlav, the taluka seat: Limbdi (M), Liyad, Mota Timbla, Nana Timbla, Natwargadh, Pandri, Panshina, Ralol, Ramrajpar, Samla, Raska, Sauka, Tokrala, Ughal, Umedpar, Untadi, Vakhatpar, Zamdi
Designated as a Scheduled Tribes Constituency.
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 226369 and the turnout stood at 69.89%, in real numbers- 158200 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 259915 electors, 64.43% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-167465voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Kolipatel Somabhai Gandalal gained a vote share of 50.11% and defeated BJP’s Kiritsinh Jitubha Rana whose vote share stood at 41.36%. The remaining candidate in the fray was BSP’s Chavda Ashokbhai Karshanbhai with 1.61% vote share. 2.00% of votes were under NOTA.
Voting History -2012 & 2017
In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 72203 votes that increased to 83909 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 70642 votes in 2012 and 69258 votes in 2017. BSP got 2699 votes in 2017. INC dominated the district of Surendranagar in 2017 by winning 4 seats. BJP scored 1 seat.
