Koraput assembly constituency is located in Koraput district and consists of:  

Koraput, Sunabeda Lamptaput block, 15 Gram panchayats (Badasuku, Deoghati, Kendar, Kerenga, Lankaput, Mahadeiput, Manbar, Mastiput, Padmapur and Umuri) of Koraput block and 8 Gram panchayats (Bodaput, Boipariguda, Chandrapada, Chipakur, Dasamanthapur, Doraguda, Kenduguda, Kollar and Mahuli) of Boipariguda block.

During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 169304 and the turnout stood at 73.63%, in real numbers- 124662 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 190252 electors, 70.26% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-133670 voters.

2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Raghu Ram Padal gained a vote share of 36.00% and defeated INC’s Krushna Kuldip whose vote share stood at 31.30%. The remaining candidates in the fray were BJP’s Tripurary Gorada with 25.40% of vote share and BSP’s Bhagirathi Patnia with 1.90% vote share.

District-Wise Electoral Results

In 2014, INC won the constituency and earned 50672 votes and 41886 votes in 2019. On the other hand, BJD garnered 45696 votes in 2014 and 48171 votes in 2019 while BJP received 13665 votes in 2014 and 33994 votes in 2019. BSP got 2091 votes in 2014 and 2489 votes in 2019. BJD dominated the district of Koraput in 2019 by winning 4 seats. INC managed to win the remaining 1 seat.
