Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 228272 and the turnout stood at 71.74%, in real numbers- 163751 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 252198 electors, 76.44% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers it translates to 192780 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Kirtisinh Prabhatsinh Vaghela gained a vote share of 49.35% and defeated INC’s Jalera Dineshji Dharsiji whose vote share stood at 44.89%. The remaining candidate in the fray was independent candidate Thakor Lebuji Bhudarji with 1.58% Vote share. 2.01% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 73900 votes that increased to 86543 votes in 2017 but the party ended up on the losing side. On the other hand, BJP garnered 73300 votes in 2012 and 95131 votes to secure a win in 2017 elections. INC emerged as the leading party in the district of Banaskantha in 2017 by winning 5 seats. BJP gained 3 seats and 1 seat went to an independent candidate.
