Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 68,243 and the turnout stood at 73.94%, in real numbers- 50,457 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 75,899 electors, 78.09% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-59,269 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Pawan Kumar Kajal gained a vote share of 43.11% and defeated BJP’s Sanjay Chaudhary whose vote share stood at 32.63%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was the independent candidate Dr. Rajesh Sharma with 19.92% vote share. 1.11% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 14,069 votes and 25,549 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 11,700 votes in 2012 and 19,341 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Kangra in 2017 by winning 11 seats. INC won 3 seats and 1 seat went to an independent candidate.
