Kamakhyanagar assembly constituency is located in Dhenkanal district and consists of:
Kamakhyanagar, Bhuban, 15 GPs (Badasuanlo, Jagannathpur, Bhairapur, Baruan(K), Baunspal, Kanapura, Baisinga, Baligorad, Mahulapal, Kadua, Rainarasinghpur, Sogar, Budhibilli, Bankual and Kotagara) of Kamakshyanagar block and 7 GPs (Barada, Gengutia, Sankulei, Tarva, Chaulia, Sogarpasi and Bansingh) of Dhenkanal block, and Bhuban block.
Designated as a General Constituency.
During the 2014 elections, the total number of electors was 192892 and the constituency recorded 76.31% of polling, in real numbers- 147198 voters. 2019 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 214855 electors, 73.04% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a reasonable jump-156926 voters.
Representation and Results
2019’s assembly election winner, BJD’s Prafulla Kumar Mallik gained a vote share of 52.10% and defeated BJP’s Satrughan Jena whose vote share stood at 41.50%. The remaining candidates in the fray were INC’s Bahabani Sankar Mohapatra with 4.30% of vote share and BSP’s Bijaya Kumar Naik with 0.70 vote share.
Voting History -2014 & 2019
In 2014, BJD won the constituency and earned 64163 votes and 81695 votes in 2019. On the other hand, INC garnered 47282 votes in 2014 and 6694 votes in 2019 while BJP received 25927 votes in 2019 and 65186 votes in 2019. BSP got 1154 votes in the 2019 elections. BJD completely dominated the district of Dhenkanal in 2019 by winning all 4 seats.
