Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 66,025 and the turnout stood at 66.94%, in real numbers- 44,197 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 69,444 electors, 70.63% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-49,046 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Narinder Thakur gained a vote share of 52.71% and defeated INC’s Kuldeep Singh Pathania whose vote share stood at 37.97%. The other prominent candidates in the fray were CPI(M)’s Anil Mankotia with 4.89% and independent candidate Kamal Pathania with 1.04% vote share.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 25,567 votes and 25,584 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 16,265 votes in 2012 and 18,623 votes in 2017. CPI(M) received 2,398 votes in the 2017 elections. INC dominated the district of Hamirpur in 2017 by winning 3 seats. BJP managed to secure 2 seats.
