Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 52,996 and the turnout stood at 88.97%, in real numbers- 47,150 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 62,577 electors, 89.90% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-56,256 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Paramjeet Singh gained a vote share of 52.80% and defeated INC’s Ram Kumar whose vote share stood at 45.12%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was independent candidate Inder Singh Thakur with 0.78% vote share. 0.61% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 15,520 votes and 25,382 votes in 2017. On the other hand, BJP garnered 8,584 votes in 2012 and 29,701 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Solan in 2017 by winning 3 seats. INC managed to win 2 seats.
