Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 68,626 and the turnout stood at 70.52%, in real numbers- 48,397 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 74,052 electors, 67.18% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-49,746 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, BJP’s Mahender Singh gained a vote share of 56.15% and defeated INC’s Chandershekhar whose vote share stood at 32.10%. The other prominent candidates in the fray were CPI(M)’s Bhupender Singh with 6.60% and RADM’s Ramesh Kumar Guleria with 0.86% of vote share.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 24,029 votes and 27,931 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 22,988 votes in 2012 and 15,967 votes in 2017. CPI(M) received 3,284 votes in the 2017 elections. BJP dominated the district of Mandi in 2017 by winning 9 seats. 1 seat went to an independent candidate.
