Voter Turnout

During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 70,424 and the turnout stood at 66.77%, in real numbers- 47,022 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout increase; out of the 76,522 electors, 72.55% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers, though it was a reasonable jump-55,519 voters.
Representation and Results

2017’s assembly election winner, the independent candidate Hoshiyar Singh gained a vote share of 43.60% and defeated BJP’s Ravinder Singh Ravi whose vote share stood at 36.55%. The other prominent candidate in the fray was INC’s Viplove Thakur with 14.93% vote share. 1.63% Of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, BJP won the constituency and earned 24,463 votes and 20,292 votes in 2017. On the other hand, INC garnered 7,639 votes in 2012 and 8,289 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Kangra in 2017 by winning 11 seats. 3 seats were won by INC and 1 seat went to an independent candidate.
