Voter Turnout
During the 2012 elections, the total number of electors was 175647and the turnout stood at 70.66%, in real numbers- 124107 voters. 2017 witnessed a turnout decrease; out of the 195577 electors, 65.59% of voters exercised their constitutional rights. In real numbers though it was a slight jump-128278 voters.
Representation and Results
2017’s assembly election winner, INC’s Shaikh Gyasuddin Habibuddeen gained a vote share of 49,67% and defeated BJP’s Bharat Barot whose vote share stood at 44.84%. The remaining candidate in the fray was SHS’s Patel Kunjalbhai Maheshbhai with 1.09% Vote share. 1.26% of votes were under NOTA.

In 2012, INC won the constituency and earned 60967 votes and 63712 votes in 2017. BJP garnered 58346 votes in 2012 and 57525 votes in 2017. BJP dominated the district of Ahmedabad in 2017 by winning 15 seats. INC scored 6 seats.
